Indian Pacific

A great time to be a muso

Indian Pacific's debut album, 'Rock Country', dates back to James’ move to Sydney in the mid-1970s. It was recorded at Silverwood Studios by Clive Shakespeare, founding member of Sherbert.

This was a great time to be a muso. Every pub was a live music venue and an opportunity for a top Country Rock band like Indian Pacific to make a name for itself. The band had both Friday and Saturday night residencies in Sydney, which along with other casual gigs, kept the lads busy.

The band’s second album, 'Retrospective', included some songs from the original album plus further studio tracks as well as live recordings.

Indian Pacific was the first band for which James not only sang and played, but also wrote original music, together with fellow guitarist Phil Beazley. The band quickly became popular to the point they played at the Tamworth Music Festival over two consecutive years.
